Lower limb (Leg) arteries
Duplex ultrasound
Service Description
Most people with peripheral arterial disease experience aching, cramping or a burning sensation in the calf, buttock and/or thigh which is affecting their daily activities and quality of life. In severe cases, sleepness nights due to the pain in the foot have a dramatic impact on an individuals life. The reason for these symptoms could be due to a blockage or narrowing in the circulation in the legs. A lower limb arterial duplex (Doppler) is a detailed and comprehensive assessment of one leg (60 mins; £199) or both lower limbs (90 mins; £349). The scan will typically begin at the naval (belly button) and end at the top of your foot to include: – A check of your aorta for blood flow and size to rule out aneurysm. – Iliac arteries, femoral arteries and popliteal arteries. – Calf arteries and dorsalis pedis artery. - An ABPI assessment (blood pressure assessment of your arms and calves). Consultation charges with our Clinical Scientist are deducted from the cost of your scan, should a scan be necessary. Your scan fee will include a report and schematic of the ultrasound findings.
